The climate varies from nice
summer days to cold and windy winter. In between we have the beautiful
fresh and green spring and the lovely autumn with the hills covered in all
shades of red and yellow. Traditionally, industry, especially paper and pulp industry, has dominated the city. When all these factories were shut down around the middle of the last century, the city changed. People had to find jobs elsewhere and many got new jobs in Oslo, but fortunately they kept on living in Drammen. Shipping has also been a great importance and still is today. The city has changed much and has become a centre for commerce, transportation and many different kind of industry. Drammen has the biggest population in Buskerud with its 58 000 inhabitants. |

| - Wildness - Beautiful Nature - Clean Lakes |
| The wideness of natural resources is stunning in this county. It reaches from almost sea level up to 1500 meters above it. The sight of the nature in this area is impressive, and it differences varies traveling thru it. You will be able to experience untouched forest, beautiful lake sides, steep mountain hills and clean running creeks. |
|
|
|
As you approach the first
thing you see is the mountain, “Norefjell”. The tops covered in new snow,
almost the whole year. When the evening comes, you will clearly see the
lights from the slopes. It brightens up the hillside, making it look soft
yellow. As you get closer, you can see the Norwegian team of alpine
practicing. During the Olympic Games in 1952 the downhill races was
arranged in this mountain. When you travel down the valley you can follow the large lake “krøderfjorden” all the way down to the city, Drammen. In the lake you will experience the small and charming “islands” and they are situated close to each other. The shore of the lake is an excellent sight. From rocky, as well as moist and even long clean beaches of with sand. In the forest, the nature is untouched. Close vegetation and no specific path to follow. You will be left to your natural compass! |
