TEXTS

Below you will find eleven texts in various Germanic languages. There are two texts from Norway, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, written in the national languages of these countries. In addition there is one text in Low Saxon. All the texts have been translated into Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, German and English. You will find the translations by using the hypertexted features of the individual texts.

Hypertexted features: translations
The texts are all hypertexted, i.e they carry a feature which allows you to read the translations of these texts in other Germanic languages. By moving your mouse you can put the cursor on the various words (do not click the words) and a pop-up window will give you the translations. The translations are put on the words the first time they occur, which means that later in the text you will have to remember the translations or find the word in what you have already read.

We have included a text in Low Saxon in order to show you an example of a Germanic language that is not a national language in Europe. This text is translated into Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish and English.
